FAQs

Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions not listed please contact us through the contact & assistance page.

How can I participate in the Canon toner recycling programme?

Please register for this programme using Canon's return and recycling website. Once you have completed your registration you can request up to 20 boxes. These boxes will be delivered within 5 working days. Only these boxes can be used to return Canon toner cartridges. If you wish to use other boxes please contact us using the contact & assistance page. You may not return any other items except the all-in-one genuine Canon toner cartridges listed on the acceptable cartridges page. Once you have completed the registration form a confirmation email will be sent to the supplied email address. This email will contain your login details and confirmation of any box orders you have made. The login details must be used to place further orders, hence please keep it and do not re-register for further orders.

How do I arrange a collection?

Once you have requested and received your Canon boxes please place between 25 and 30 cartridge in each box. You can then place a collection order using Canon's recycling website. You will need your login details to book the collection. The service is free of charge for Canon customers.

How do I package the toners for collection?

1 – You should only use original Canon boxes for the return of used/empty Canon toner cartridges. These boxes must be ordered using the Canon recycling website.

2 – Do not return third party cartridges or toner bottles using this programme. Only return original Canon toner cartridges. Click here if you wish to return inkjet cartridges.

3 - Remove the original packaging material from toner cartridges – Canon toner cartridges should be returned without any packaging material.

4 - Ensure that each collection box does not exceed the weight of 31 kilograms, otherwise the carrier may refuse collection.

5 - Collection boxes must be stored on the ground-floor when the carrier arrives to collect them.

6 - Ensure that each box is securely packaged at the time of collection (do not overfill the boxes and make sure they are properly closed and sealed).

Does Canon offer a recycling service for other consumable products (e.g. toner bottles or ink jet cartridges)?

If you wish to return inkjet cartridges please click here to use our postal return. Please dispose of consumables for large format printers in accordance with legal requirements. Canon does not offer a recycling service for toner or developer units, toner bottles or other consumables for large format printers, GP, iR, iRC, NP and CLC copiers due to the adverse environmental impacts of shipping these items.

Can I return full cartridges?

Where possible we ask customers to use as much of the toner as they can before sending us their cartridges. Filled cartridges can be returned using this program but doing so is wasteful and contributes towards increasing the weight of the overall box which must not exceed 31 kilograms.

My cartridge is not listed in the acceptable cartridges list, can I still send it?

If your cartridge is not listed on the acceptable cartridges page you may wish to check whether the cartridge you are trying to return is an inkjet cartridge. If you find your product listed on the acceptable inkjet cartridges page please send us your inkjet cartridges using the inkjet cartridge postal return program. Please do not send third party or cartridges that are not listed in the acceptable cartridges page.
